I just read an old magazine article that made me think – as it relates to my physical being and dance.
One of the suggestions was that it is okay to exercise or go for a run in lieu of doing a load of wash or other household chores as a way of better energizing ourselves..
I do challenge this somewhat – because I have also read many articles about household chores AS exercise. For instance, how many calories are burned when vacuuming, washing floors (and moving furniture out of the way), gardening, mowing the lawn (or – grrr! – shoveling snow) or carrying, chasing or playing with kids?
AND, as a reader of this tip, it is apparent that you enjoy dancing. Therefore, think about how you can incorporate dance into your daily life AS you are doing regular activities.
For instance (and, of course, when no non-dancer is watching you!), as you move across a room, you can “waltz” instead of just walk. Just standing (for whatever reason) can easily become a rumba or foxtrot box step – or some swing basics. Even walking as you vacuum can be done in a QQS or SQQ rhythm. And, as you prepare a meal, you can always practice Cuban motion in place.
These kinds of possibilities are endless as a way of giving a multi-faceted gift to yourself.
